Schedule for Session 5 Class

LEARNING ACTIVITY I.   Responding to The Breadwinner as a reader and as a teacher
(7:00-8:00)  
Personal Response:   What feelings were evoked by reading The Breadwinner?   Why is this story so unique and so universal? 
Teacher Response:   Could we use this for whole class instruction?   If so, what does this book offer us?   
What literary elements could we focus on?   What would "character" offer the reader? What did Rosen, et al. say?  What reading comprehension strategies could we explicitly teach while reading this book?


Reviewing the Assignment criteria for Meeting the ELA Standards Using YA Literature
