LEARNING ACTIVITY I.   Using YA Multicultural Literature to Meet the ELA Standards
(7:00-8:00)  
Megan will lead the class in a literacy expert/teacher demonstration   
Presentation of YA Summary and Overview of Unit
Teacher Demonstration
Debrief of demonstration, summary of YA text,  and instructional overview/materials

8:00-8:15 Break
LEARNING ACTIVITY II.   Designing Digitial Reader Response Projects to Meet the ELA Standards
(8:15-9:00)  
Examining Dr. Jones' model of a digital "End of Unit" Project.



LEARNING ACTIVITY III. Reading Workshop Time:  The 5 R's
(9:00-9:30)
Independent Rx5 time tonight:
  • Reading selected YA literature
  • Responding to the YA literature you have read -- either through writing a blog entry or through brainstorming a digital reader response project   
"Housekeeping" 
(9:30-9:40)
  • What does it mean to be a voracious reader?
  • What do I need to remember about my process for designing a digital reader response?
  • Do I have a clear plan of how I will independently manage my reading/composing processes?  
  • What should the expectations for our Component D be?  What criteria should our rubric include?
